Today's Poem
That Man
Coming by birth like everyone,
But this was differently done.
He had a normal mother
But a Father like no other.
Born in an undesirable scene--
A barn that wasn't so clean.
Then off to a foreign land
Fleeing from a terrible king's hand.
Growing up learning to build,
This in which his dad was skilled.
Later then to leave his house
To the Jordan river for a douse.
Heaven opened when this was done
A voice declaring, “This is my Son.”
Called to be tempted in the sand,
The tempter was there as planned.
The man would not fall for lies.
Plans laid for a much bigger prize.
He gathered people to teach,
The goal of this world to reach.
Many things were taught,
Some of them were fought.
Not everyone would agree
Believing only what they see.
A few turned to hate,
They wanted no more debate.
Drastic measures were taken,
Now that man was forsaken.
Things seemed very grim;
The crowd shouted, “Crucify him!”
On a cross He was hung,
With a spear He was stung.
Later that day He died
With His arms open wide.
His body sealed in a tomb,
There forever some would assume.
But three days went by.
Then, where is this guy,
The grave found bare,
His body was not there.
”He is risen!” an angel said.
Not death but life instead.
Eternal with God above.
But before, a message of love,
”Make disciples of all nations,
Loving all of God's creations,
Baptizing them in the Trinity,
Leading them to life with Me.”
That man made a pact--
More than just a contract.
He said, “I will be with you.”
Every word spoken true.
Never will He leave your side;
That man will be your guide.
Let Him dwell in your heart,
Of His news you will impart.
Today is the day to begin,
Allow Him to live within.
There is a perfect space
In your heart, a void to erase.
His message is of love,
To live a life never dreamed of.
For this That Man is praised.
To this day I am amazed.
His life was given for me,
My soul shines with glee.
